Specialist knowledge and networking community

Sales and support teams are perpetually operating within a very tight time schedule and more often than not training on the very products they are required to sell/support takes a backseat in the list of 'things to do'. An important development to assist these teams in ensuring their knowledge and hands-on abilities are at an optimum level, is the evolution of the elearning tool.

In the satellite communications industry hands-on training is almost entirely dependent on 'line-of-sight' of the satellite. The advent and continuous evolution of elearning has provided a valuable solution where this visibility is hampered by geography, urban environment or lack of coverage for other reasons. Elearning also plays an important part as a back-up training tool for post-classroom training learning and revision for all sectors of the industry.

Electronic learning is here to stay, in all of its forms. Somehow we cannot remember how we managed without!

interesing points! I think it is also interesting to think what Inmarsat now offers to the world in terms of universal education. Your global, anytime, anywhere technology now means that just-in-time learning has also arrived! Has Inmarsat considered this an an application - I imagine global services such as the MoD would see a huge benefit in this. They have invested £41 million into an LMS (they think they underspent) and the thought of being able to access it anywhere through Inmarsat technology is quite compelling
